“If they sin against thee—for there is no man who does not sin—and thou art angry with them, and dost give them to an enemy, so that they are carried away captive to the land of the enemy, far off or near;


And he burned the house of the Lord, and the king's house and all the houses of Jerusalem; every great house he burned down.


“But if you turn aside and forsake my statutes and my commandments which I have set before you, and go and serve other gods and worship them,


And they said to me, “The survivors there in the province who escaped exile are in great trouble and shame; the wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates are destroyed by fire.”


Remember the word which thou didst command thy servant Moses, saying, ‘If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the peoples;


Then Haman said to King Ahasu-erus, “There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of your kingdom; their laws are different from those of every other people, and they do not keep the king's laws, so that it is not for the king's profit to tolerate them.


and would disperse their descendants among the nations, scattering them over the lands.

How lonely sits the city that was full of people! How like a widow has she become, she that was great among the nations! She that was a princess among the cities has become a vassal.


Judah has gone into exile because of affliction and hard servitude; she dwells now among the nations, but finds no resting place; her pursuers have all overtaken her in the midst of her distress.


“Away! Unclean!” men cried at them; “Away! Away! Touch not!” So they became fugitives and wanderers; men said among the nations, “They shall stay with us no longer.”


The Lord himself has scattered them, he will regard them no more; no honor was shown to the priests, no favor to the elders.


And the inhabited cities shall be laid waste, and the land shall become a desolation; and you shall know that I am the Lord.”


Moreover I swore to them in the wilderness that I would scatter them among the nations and disperse them through the countries,

they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led captive among all nations; and Jerusalem will be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.


And the Lord will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number among the nations where the Lord will drive you.
