saying: “O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift my face to thee, my God, for our iniquities have risen higher than our heads, and our guilt has mounted up to the heavens.


Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek thy name, O Lord.


I did not listen to the voice of my teachers or incline my ear to my instructors.


Therefore the showers have been withheld, and the spring rain has not come; yet you have a harlot's brow, you refuse to be ashamed.


Were they ashamed when they committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed; they did not know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; at the time that I punish them, they shall be overthrown,” says the Lord.


She listens to no voice, she accepts no correction. She does not trust in the Lord, she does not draw near to her God.


But the Lord said to Moses, “If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be shamed seven days? Let her be shut up outside the camp seven days, and after that she may be brought in again.”


If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.


I appeal to you, brethren, to take note of those who create dissensions and difficulties, in opposition to the doctrine which you have been taught; avoid them.


I do not write this to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children.


But rather I wrote to you not to associate with any one who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or robber—not even to eat with such a one.


I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with immoral men;


being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.


For this is why I wrote, that I might test you and know whether you are obedient in everything.


And his heart goes out all the more to you, as he remembers the obedience of you all, and the fear and trembling with which you received him.


You shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt; and you shall be careful to observe these statutes.


Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;


And when this letter has been read among you, have it read also in the church of the La-odiceans; and see that you read also the letter from La-odicea.


Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.


Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is living in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us.


and sound speech that cannot be censured, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say of us.


As for a man who is factious, after admonishing him once or twice, have nothing more to do with him,


Confident of your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even more than I say.


Obey your leaders and submit to them; for they are keeping watch over your souls, as men who will have to give account. Let them do this joyfully, and not sadly, for that would be of no advantage to you.


If any one comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into the house or give him any greeting;
