Their hearts are fat and gross, but I delight in your law.


They close their hearts to pity; with their mouths they speak arrogantly.


Let their eyes be darkened so that they cannot see, and make their loins tremble continually.


But the Lord hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he was unwilling to let them go.


Moses and Aaron performed all these wonders before Pharaoh; but the Lord hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not let the people of Israel go out of his land.


Then I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them; and so I will gain glory for myself over Pharaoh and all his army, his chariots, and his chariot drivers.

Stupefy yourselves and be in a stupor, blind yourselves and be blind! Be drunk, but not from wine; stagger, but not from strong drink!

Why, O Lord, do you make us stray from your ways and harden our heart, so that we do not fear you? Turn back for the sake of your servants, for the sake of the tribes that are your heritage.


The heart is devious above all else; it is perverse— who can understand it?


Hear this, O foolish and senseless people, who have eyes, but do not see, who have ears, but do not hear.


To whom shall I speak and give warning, that they may hear? See, their ears are closed, they cannot listen. The word of the Lord is to them an object of scorn; they take no pleasure in it.


Give them anguish of heart; your curse be on them!

But they refused to listen, and turned a stubborn shoulder, and stopped their ears in order not to hear.

Repent therefore, and turn to God so that your sins may be wiped out,
