For they also built for themselves high places, pillars, and sacred poles on every high hill and under every green tree;


But the high places were not taken away. Nevertheless the heart of Asa was true to the Lord all his days.


He walked in all the way of his father Asa; he did not turn aside from it, doing what was right in the sight of the Lord; yet the high places were not taken away, and the people still sacrificed and offered incense on the high places.


Jehoshaphat also made peace with the king of Israel.


“You know that my father David could not build a house for the name of the Lord his God because of the warfare with which his enemies surrounded him, until the Lord put them under the soles of his feet.


Jehoash said to the priests, “All the money offered as sacred donations that is brought into the house of the Lord, the money for which each person is assessed—the money from the assessment of persons—and the money from the voluntary offerings brought into the house of the Lord,


But the high places were not taken out of Israel. Nevertheless the heart of Asa was true all his days.


The people, however, still sacrificed at the high places, but only to the Lord their God.


For they provoked him to anger with their high places; they moved him to jealousy with their idols.


I will destroy your high places and cut down your incense altars; I will heap your carcasses on the carcasses of your idols. I will abhor you.


Take care that you do not offer your burnt offerings at any place you happen to see.


They answered, “Yes, there he is just ahead of you. Hurry; he has come just now to the town, because the people have a sacrifice today at the shrine.
