Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the name of Amalek from under heaven.’


They set out, this first time, at the Lord’s command through Moses.


At the sounding of a second blast, the camps on the south are to set out. The blast will be the signal for setting out.


Here are the stages in the journey of the Israelites when they came out of Egypt by divisions under the leadership of Moses and Aaron.


The Israelites set out from Rameses on the fifteenth day of the first month, the day after the Passover. They marched out defiantly in full view of all the Egyptians,


(It takes eleven days to go from Horeb to Kadesh Barnea by the Mount Seir road.)


‘Go,’ the Lord said to me, ‘and lead the people on their way, so that they may enter and possess the land that I swore to their ancestors to give them.’
