And the captain of the guard took Serai´ah the chief priest, and Zephani´ah the second priest, and the three keepers of the door:


the fifteenth to Bilgah, the sixteenth to Immer,


and Azari´ah the son of Hilki´ah, the son of Meshul´lam, the son of Zadok, the son of Merai´oth, the son of Ahi´tub, the ruler of the house of God;


And his princes gave willingly unto the people, to the priests, and to the Levites: Hilki´ah and Zechari´ah and Jehi´el, rulers of the house of God, gave unto the priests for the passover offerings two thousand and six hundred small cattle, and three hundred oxen.


And thou, Pashur, and all that dwell in thine house, shall go into captivity: and thou shalt come to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and shalt be buried there, thou, and all thy friends, to whom thou hast prophesied lies.


The Lord hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoi´ada the priest, that ye should be officers in the house of the Lord, for every man that is mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in prison, and in the stocks.


Wherefore the princes were wroth with Jeremiah, and smote him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe; for they had made that the prison.


And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them,


Now when the high priest and the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these things, they doubted of them whereunto this would grow.
