And as many as received him, he gave them authority to be the children of God, to them believing on his name:
John testifies for him, and he tried, saying, This was he of whom I said, He coming after me was before me: for he was before me.
And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem that they might ask him, Who art thou?
And having looked upon Jesus walking, he says, Behold the Lamb of God
The Light was true, which enlightens every man coming into the world.
And Paul said, John truly immersed the immersion of repentance, saying to the people, that they should believe on him coming after him, that is, in Christ Jesus.
And to enlighten all what the distribution of the mystery, concealed from times immemorial in God, having created all things by Jesus Christ:
Who wills all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
The Lord puts not off the solemn promise, as some deem slowness; but is lonsuffering to us, not willing any to perish, but all should have room for repentance.
