The king called the Giv`onim, and said to them (now the Giv`onim were not of the children of Yisra'el, but of the remnant of the Amori; and the children of Yisra'el had sworn to them: and Sha'ul sought to kill them in his zeal for the children of Yisra'el and Yehudah);


He said, Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD. So they made him ride in his chariot.


Don't be overly righteous, neither make yourself overly wise. Why should you destroy yourself?


Or if the raw flesh turns again, and is changed to white, then he shall come to the Kohen;


*Woe to you, scribes and Perushim, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and unrighteousness.


For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Perushim, there is no way you will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.


They were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the mitzvot and ordinances of the Lord.

although I was before a blasphemer, a persecutor, and insolent. However, I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.


Then the men of the city said to Yo'ash, Bring out your son, that he may die, because he has broken down the altar of Ba`al, and because he has cut down the Asherah that was by it.
