though he spare it, and will not let it go, but keep it still within his mouth;
When he is about to fill his belly, God will cast the fierceness of his wrath on him. It will rain on him while he is eating.
Behold, he struck the rock, so that waters gushed out, and streams overflowed. Can he give bread also? Will he provide flesh for his people?*
Moshe said, *Now the LORD shall give you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to satisfy you; because the LORD hears your murmurings which you murmur against him. And who are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD.*
The LORD said to Moshe, *Go to the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments,
He said to the people, *Be ready by the third day. Don't have sexual relations with a woman.*
Let the Kohanim also, who come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth on them.*
The people were as murmurers, [speaking] evil in the ears of the LORD: and when the LORD heard it, his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and devoured in the uttermost part of the camp.
