Avraham said about Sarah his wife, *She is my sister.* Avimelekh king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.


He bought the parcel of ground where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Chamor, Shekhem's father, for one hundred pieces of money.


Ya`akov's sons came on the dead, and plundered the city, because they had defiled their sister.


His soul joined to Dinah, the daughter of Ya`akov, and he loved the young lady, and spoke kindly to the young lady.


Ya`akov said to Shim`on and Levi, *You have troubled me, to make me odious to the inhabitants of the land, among the Kena`anim and the Perizzi. I am few in number. They will gather themselves together against me and strike me, and I will be destroyed, I and my house.*

then the man who lay with her shall give to the lady's father fifty [shekels] of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he has humbled her; he may not put her away all his days.


The men of Yisra'el said to the Chivvi, What if you dwell among us; and how shall we make a covenant with you?

Ga`al the son of `Eved said, Who is Avimelekh, and who is Shekhem, that we should serve him? Isn't he the son of Yerubba`al? and Zevul his officer? serve you the men of Chamor the father of Shekhem: but why should we serve him?
