They took Lot, Avram's brother's son, who lived in Sedom, and his goods, and departed.


The young men who had grown up with him spoke to him, saying, Thus shall you tell this people who spoke to you, saying, Your father made our yoke heavy, but make you it lighter to us; thus shall you speak to them, My little finger is thicker than my father's waist.


But he forsook the counsel of the old men which they had given him, and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him, who stood before him.


It happened, when the captains of the chariots saw Yehoshafat, that they said, Surely it is the king of Yisra'el; and they turned aside to fight against him: and Yehoshafat cried out.


He said to Yehoshafat, Will you go with me to battle to Ramot Gil`ad? Yehoshafat said to the king of Yisra'el, I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.


But he forsook the counsel of the old men which they had given him, and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him, who stood before him.


Yehu the son of Chanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Yehoshafat, Should you help the wicked, and love those who hate the LORD? for this thing wrath is on you from before the LORD.


He did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as did the house of Ach'av; for they were his counselors after the death of his father, to his destruction.


I am a friend of all those who fear you, of those who observe your precepts.


Longing fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but fools detest turning from evil.


Stay away from a foolish man, for you won't find knowledge on his lips.


The ear that listens to reproof lives, and will be at home among the wise.


Don't befriend a hot-tempered man, and don't associate with one who harbors anger:


lest you learn his ways, and ensnare your soul.


Her house is the way to She'ol, going down to the chambers of death.


Leave your simple ways, and live. Walk in the way of understanding.*


Then those who feared the LORD spoke one with another; and the LORD listened, and heard, and a book of memory was written before him, for those who feared the LORD, and who honored his name.


They continued steadfastly in the emissaries' teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and prayer.


Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works,
