I will make you swear by the LORD, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you shall not take a wife for my son of the daughters of the Kena`anim, among whom I live.


My master made me swear, saying, 'You shall not take a wife for my son of the daughters of the Kena`anim, in whose land I live,


But you shall go to my country, and to my relatives, and take a wife for my son Yitzchak.*


Make me savory food, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat, and that my soul may bless you before I die.*


Rivka said to Yitzchak, *I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Chet. If Ya`akov takes a wife of the daughters of Chet, such as these, of the daughters of the land, what good will my life do me?*


Now Esav saw that Yitzchak had blessed Ya`akov and sent him away to Paddan-Aram 1, to take him a wife from there, and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, *You shall not take a wife of the daughters of Kena`an,*

Yehudah saw there a daughter of a certain Kena`ani whose name was Shu`a. He took her, and went in to her.
