He lived in the wilderness of Paran. His mother took a wife for him out of the land of Egypt.


They arose out of Midyan, and came to Paran; and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, to Par`oh king of Egypt, who gave him a house, and appointed him food, and gave him land.


God came from Teman, the Holy One from Mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and his praise filled the earth.


The children of Yisra'el set forward according to their journeys out of the wilderness of Sinai; and the cloud abode in the wilderness of Paran.


From Kivrot-Hatta'avah the people traveled to Chatzerot; and they abode at Chatzerot.


Afterward the people traveled from Chatzerot, and encamped in the wilderness of Paran.


They went and came to Moshe, and to Aharon, and to all the congregation of the children of Yisra'el, to the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word to them, and to all the congregation, and shown them the fruit of the land.


Moshe sent them from the wilderness of Paran according to the mitzvah of the LORD: all of them men who were heads of the children of Yisra'el.


For we will not inherit with them on the other side of the Yarden, and forward; because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side of the Yarden eastward.


We will pass over armed before the LORD into the land of Kena`an, and the possession of our inheritance [shall remain] with us beyond the Yarden.


They said, If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants for a possession; don't bring us over the Yarden.

These are the words of the covenant which the LORD commanded Moshe to make with the children of Yisra'el in the land of Mo'av, besides the covenant which he made with them in Chorev.

He said, The LORD came from Sinai, And rose from Se`ir to them. He shone forth from Mount Paran. He came from the ten thousands of holy ones. At his right hand was a fiery law for them.

Now to the one half-tribe of Menasheh Moshe had given [inheritance] in Bashan; but to the other half gave Yehoshua among their brothers beyond the Yarden westward; moreover when Yehoshua sent them away to their tents, he blessed them,


that the waters which came down from above stood, and rose up in one heap, a great way off, at Adam, the city that is beside Tzaretan; and those that went down toward the sea of the `Aravah, even the Salt Sea, were wholly cut off: and the people passed over right against Yericho.


It happened, when all the kings who were beyond the Yarden, in the hill country, and in the lowland, and on all the shore of the great sea in front of Levanon, the Chittite, and the Amori, the Kena`ani, the Perizzi, the Chivvi, and the Yevusi, heard of it;


and all that he did to the two kings of the Amori, who were beyond the Yarden, to Sichon king of Cheshbon, and to `Og king of Bashan, who was at `Ashtarot.


Shemu'el died; and all Yisra'el gathered themselves together, and lamented him, and buried him in his house at Ramah. David arose, and went down to the wilderness of Paran.
