He lived in the wilderness of Paran. His mother took a wife for him out of the land of Egypt.


She bore him Zimran, Yokshan, Medan, Midyan, Yishbak, and Shuach.


The sons of Midyan: `Efah, `Efer, Chanokh, Avida, and Elda`ah. All these were the children of Keturah.


that Chadad fled, he and certain Edom of his father's servants with him, to go into Egypt, Chadad being yet a little child.


Chadad found great favor in the sight of Par`oh, so that he gave him as wife the sister of his own wife, the sister of Tachpenes the queen.


Now when Par`oh heard this thing, he sought to kill Moshe. But Moshe fled from the face of Par`oh, and lived in the land of Midyan, and he sat down by a well.

Now the name of the man of Yisra'el that was slain, who was slain with the Midyanite woman, was Zimri, the son of Salu, a prince of a fathers' house among the Shim`oni.


for they vex you with their wiles, with which they have deceived you in the matter of Pe`or, and in the matter of Kozbi, the daughter of the prince of Midyan, their sister, who was slain on the day of the plague in the matter of Pe`or.


Behold, one of the children of Yisra'el came and brought to his brothers a Midyanite woman in the sight of Moshe, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Yisra'el, while they were weeping at the door of the tent of meeting.


These are the words which Moshe spoke to all Yisra'el beyond the Yarden in the wilderness, in the `Aravah over against Suf, between Paran, and Tofel, and Lavan, and Chatzerot, and Di-Zahav.


He said, The LORD came from Sinai, And rose from Se`ir to them. He shone forth from Mount Paran. He came from the ten thousands of holy ones. At his right hand was a fiery law for them.
