People who think they are better than other people only cause trouble. But people who listen to the things other people tell them are wise.


Jesus said to them, “Truly you will suffer the same things that I will suffer. But I cannot choose the person that will sit at my right side or my left side. My Father has decided who will have those places. He has prepared those places for those people. Those places belong to them.”


Jesus called all the followers together. Jesus said, “You know that the rulers of the non-Jewish people love to show their power over the people. And their important leaders love to use all their authority over the people.


Jesus saw what happened. He did not like his followers telling the children not to come. Jesus said to them, “Let the little children come to me. Don’t stop them, because the kingdom of God belongs to people that are like these little children.


The other ten followers heard this. They became angry with James and John.


The synagogue {\cf2\super [236]} leader was angry because Jesus healed on the Sabbath day. {\cf2\super [237]} The leader said to the people, “There are six days for work. So come to be healed on one of those days. Don’t come for healing on the Sabbath day.”


Love is patient, and love is kind. Love is not jealous, it does not boast, and it is not proud.


When you do things, don’t let selfishness or pride be your guide. Be humble and give more honor to other people than to yourselves.


If you are selfish and have bitter jealousy in your hearts, then you have no reason to boast. Your boasting is a lie that hides the truth.


Young men, I have something to say to you, too. You should accept the authority of the elders. {\cf2\super [32]} All of you should be very humble with each other.
