So I tell you, people can be forgiven of every sin they do. And people can be forgiven for every bad thing they say. But if a person speaks against (refuses to accept) the Holy Spirit, {\cf2\super [174]} then that person will not be forgiven.
But that person does not let the teaching go deep into his life. He keeps that teaching only a short time. When trouble or persecution {\cf2\super [183]} comes because of the teaching he accepted, then he quickly quits.
Other people are like the seed planted on rocky ground. They hear the teaching and quickly and gladly accept it.

All Scripture is given by God. And all Scripture is useful for teaching and for showing people the things that are wrong in their lives. It is useful for correcting faults and teaching how to live right.
So what do you think should be done to a person who shows his hate for the Son of God? Surely that person should have a much worse punishment. And that person should have a worse punishment for showing his hate against the Spirit {\cf2\super [138]} of God’s grace (kindness).
Those enemies of Christ were in our group. But they left us. They did not really belong with us. If they were really part of our group, then they would have stayed with us. But they left. This shows that none of them really belonged with us.
Don’t be afraid of the things that will happen to you. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison. He will do this to test you. You will suffer for ten days. But be faithful, even if you have to die. If you continue faithful, then I will give you the crown of life.
