Now, God, what can we say to you? We have stopped obeying you again!


You let our enemies push us back.\par Our enemies took our wealth.\par


God, you helped them defend themselves.\par You did not help your king win the battle.\par


“I will stand like a guard and watch.\par I will wait to see what the Lord\par will say to me.\par I will wait and learn how he answers\par my questions.”\par


Joshua said, “Lord my Master! You brought our people across the Jordan River. Why did you bring us this far and then allow the Amorite people to destroy us? We should have been satisfied and stayed on the other side of the Jordan River!


The Canaanite people and all the other people in this country will hear about what happened. Then they will attack us and kill all of us! Then what will you do to protect your great name?”


The Israelite soldiers came back to their camp. The elders (leaders) of Israel asked, “Why did the Lord let the Philistines defeat us? Let’s bring the Lord’s Box of the Agreement [41] from Shiloh. {In this way, God will go with us into battle.} He will save us from our enemies.”
