Then the people said to Moses, “If you want to speak to us, then we will listen. But please don’t let God speak to us. If this happens, we will die.”


Moses told the people all the rules and commands from the Lord. Then all the people said, “We will obey all the commands that the Lord has spoken.”


Moses read the scroll with the special Agreement written on it. Moses read the Agreement so all the people could hear him. And the people said, “We have heard {the laws that the Lord has given us}. And we agree to obey them.”


The people believed that God had sent Moses. The people of Israel knew that God had seen their troubles, and that he had come to help them. So they bowed down and worshiped God.


But the people said to Joshua, “No! We will serve the Lord.”


Then the people said to Joshua, “We will serve the Lord our God. We will obey him.”
