“Foolish people die because they refuse to follow wisdom. They are happy to continue in their foolish ways, and this will destroy them.


They tell the prophets, “Don’t see dreams {\cf2\super [278]} about things we should do! Don’t tell us the truth! Say nice things to us and make us feel good! See only good things for us!


But those people refused to listen.\par They refused to do what he wanted.\par They closed their ears so they\par could not hear what God said.\par


Yes, the minds of these people\par (the Jews) are now closed.\par They have ears,\par but they don’t listen.\par And they refuse to see \{the truth\}.\par If their minds were not closed,\par they might see with their eyes;\par they might hear with their ears;\par they might understand with their minds.\par Then they might turn back to me and be healed.\par \i (Isaiah 6:9-10)\i0 \par


But those people refused to love the truth, so God sends them something powerful that leads them away from the truth. God sends them that power so that they will believe something that is not true.


Tell those people not to give their time to stories that are not true and to long lists of names in family histories. Those things only bring arguments. Those things don’t help God’s work. God’s work is done by faith.


People tell silly stories that don’t agree with God’s truth. Don’t follow \{what\} those stories \{teach\}. But teach yourself to truly serve God.


Timothy, God has trusted you with many things. Keep those things safe. Stay away from people who talk about useless things that are not from God. Stay away from people who argue against \{the truth\}. Those people use something they call “knowledge”—but it is really not knowledge.


You know that every person in the country of Asia {\cf2\super [10]} has left me. Even Phygelus and Hermogenes have left me.


Then those people will stop accepting Jewish stories. And they will stop following the commands of those people who don’t accept the truth.


God’s grace (kindness) be with you all.


We told you about the power of our Lord Jesus Christ. We told you about his coming. Those things we told you were not just smart stories that people invented. No! We saw the greatness of Jesus with our own eyes.
