“Jerusalem, I put guards (prophets)\par on your walls.\par Those guards will not be silent.\par They will keep praying day and night.”\par


I chose watchmen to watch over you.\par I told them,\par ‘Listen for the sound of the war trumpet.’\par But they said,\par ‘We will not listen!’\par


“Son of man, {\cf2\super [28]} I am making you a watchman {\cf2\super [29]} for Israel. I will tell you about bad things that will happen to them. And you must warn Israel about those things.


“Son of man, {\cf2\super [265]} speak to your people. Say to them, ‘I might bring enemy soldiers to fight against this country. When that happens people choose a man to be the watchman.


“Now, Son of man, {\cf2\super [266]} I am choosing you to be a watchman for the family of Israel. If you hear a message from my mouth, you must warn the people for me.


The servant that got five bags of money went quickly to invest the money. Those five bags of money earned five more.


This is like a man that goes on a trip and leaves his house. The man lets his servants take care of the house. He gives each servant a special job to do. One servant has the work of guarding the door. The man tells this servant to always be ready. This is the same as I am now telling you.


I tell you this, and I say this to every person: ‘Be ready!’”


Those servants will be blessed when their master comes home, because he sees that his servants are ready and waiting for him. I tell you the truth. The master will dress himself for work and tell the servants to sit at the table. Then the master will serve them.


The next day we left Ptolemais and went to the city of Caesarea. We went into the home of Philip and stayed with him. Philip had the work of telling the Good News. {\cf2\super [414]} He was one of the seven helpers. {\cf2\super [415]}


And they obeyed God because of the power of the miracles {\cf2\super [154]} and the great things they saw, and because of the power of God’s Spirit. I have told people the Good News {\cf2\super [155]} about Christ in every place from Jerusalem to Illyricum. {\cf2\super [156]} And so I have finished that part of my work.


And that same Christ gave gifts to people—he made some people to be apostles, {\cf2\super [31]} some people to be prophets, {\cf2\super [32]} some people to go and tell the Good News, {\cf2\super [33]} and some people to have the work of caring for and teaching God’s people.


Christ gave those gifts to prepare God’s holy people {\cf2\super [34]} for the work of serving. He gave those gifts to make the body of Christ stronger.


Tell Archippus, “Be sure to do the work the Lord gave you.”


So we should not be like other people. We should not be sleeping. We should be awake and have self-control.


You are young, but don’t let any person treat you like you are not important. Be an example to show the believers how they should live. Show them with the things you say, with the way you live, with your love, with your faith, and with your pure life.


Continue to do those things. Give your life to doing those things. Then all the people can see that your work is progressing (continuing).


So don’t be ashamed to tell people about our Lord \{Jesus\}. And don’t be ashamed of me—I am in prison for the Lord. But suffer with me for the Good News. {\cf2\super [5]} God gives us the strength to do that.


So I patiently accept all these troubles. I do this to help all the people that God has chosen. I accept these troubles so that those people can have the salvation that is in Christ Jesus. With that salvation comes glory that never ends.


Share in the troubles that we have. Accept those troubles like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.


But the Lord stayed with me. The Lord gave me strength so that I could tell the Good News {\cf2\super [23]} everywhere. The Lord wanted all the non-Jews to hear that Good News. So I was saved from the lion’s (enemy’s) mouth.


Obey your leaders and be under their authority. Those men are responsible for you. So they are always watching to protect your souls. Obey those men so that they can be happy in this work. It won’t help you to make it hard for them.


So prepare your minds for service, and have self-control. All your hope should be for the gift of grace (kindness) that will be yours when Jesus Christ appears (comes).


Wake up! Make yourselves stronger while you still have something left. Make yourselves stronger before it dies completely. I find that the things you do are not good enough for my God.
