From the fruit of his mouth, a person will enjoy good things, but treacherous people have an appetite for violence.

The disloyal one will get what his conduct deserves, and a good one, what his deeds deserve.

The one who sows injustice will reap disaster, and the rod of his fury will be destroyed.

A wicked man’s iniquities will trap him; he will become tangled in the ropes of his own sin.

He will die because there is no discipline, and be lost because of his great stupidity.

So I will choose their punishment, and I will bring on them what they dread because I called and no one answered; I spoke and they did not listen; they did what was evil in my sight and chose what I did not delight in.

The people they are prophesying to will be thrown into the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword. There will be no one to bury them   #– #they, their wives, their sons, and their daughters. I will pour out their own evil on them.’

Your own evil will discipline you; your own apostasies will reprimand you. Recognise  how evil and bitter  it is for you to abandon the  Lord your God and to have no fear of me. This is the declaration of the Lord God of Armies.

I will punish you according to what you have done   – this is the  Lord’s declaration. I will kindle a fire in your forest that will consume everything around it.” ’

Listen, earth! I am about to bring disaster on these people, the fruit of their own plotting, for they have paid no attention to my words. They have rejected my instruction.

So I have poured out my indignation on them and consumed them with the fire of my fury. I have brought their conduct down on their own heads.’  This is the declaration of the Lord God.
