The ox knows its owner, and the donkey its master’s feeding trough, but Israel does not know; my people do not understand.’


‘A son honours his father, and a servant his master. But if I am a father, where is my honour? And if I am a master, where is your fear of me?  says the Lord of Armies to you priests, who despise my name.’ Yet you ask, ‘How have we despised your name? ’


When they came, they said to him, ‘Teacher, we know you are truthful and don’t care what anyone thinks, nor do you show partiality  but teach the way of God truthfully. Is it lawful to pay taxes  to Caesar or not? Should we pay or shouldn’t we? ’


His betrayer had given them a signal. ‘The one I kiss,’ he said, ‘he’s the one; arrest him and take him away under guard.’


They took hold of him and arrested him.


‘Why do you call me “Lord, Lord,” and don’t do the things I say?


Jesus said to her, ‘Mary.’ Turning around, she said to him in Aramaic,  ‘Rabboni! ’  #– #which means ‘Teacher.’


In the meantime the disciples kept urging him, ‘Rabbi,  eat something.’
