John 19:5

Zion, herald of good news, go up on a high mountain. Jerusalem, herald of good news, raise your voice loudly. Raise it, do not be afraid! Say to the cities of Judah, ‘Here is your God! ’


Now this is what the Lord  says – the one who created you, Jacob, and the one who formed you, Israel   – ‘Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are mine.


Therefore, the Lord himself will give you  a sign: See, the virgin will conceive,  have a son, and name him Immanuel.  ,


Is this nothing to you, all you who pass by? Look and see! Is there any pain like mine, which was dealt out to me, which the Lord made me suffer on the day of his burning anger?


They twisted together a crown of thorns, put it on his head, and placed a staff in his right hand. And they knelt down before him and mocked him: ‘Hail, king of the Jews! ’


The next day John saw Jesus coming towards him and said, ‘Look, the Lamb of God,  who takes away the sin  of the world!


The soldiers also twisted together a crown  of thorns, put it on his head, and clothed him in a purple robe.


keeping our eyes on Jesus,  the pioneer and perfecter  of our faith. For the joy that lay before him,  he endured the cross, despising the shame,  and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
