Then I replied to him, ‘There is nothing to these rumours you are spreading; you are inventing them in your own mind.’


I have heard many things like these. You are all miserable comforters.


All of you have seen this for yourselves, why do you keep up this empty talk?


My brothers are as treacherous as a wadi, as seasonal streams that overflow


They are ashamed because they had been confident of finding water. When they arrive there, they are disappointed.


So this is what you have now become to me. When you see something dreadful, you are afraid.


Do not give false testimony against your neighbour.


I am against those who prophesy false dreams’   #– #the Lord’s declaration #– #‘telling them and leading my people astray with their reckless lies. It was not I who sent or commanded them, and they are of no benefit at all  to these people’ #– #this is the Lord’s declaration.


You have no defender for your case. There is no remedy for your sores, and no healing for you.


Go up to Gilead and get balm, Virgin Daughter Egypt! You have multiplied remedies in vain; there is no healing for you.


They have treated my people’s brokenness superficially, claiming, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace.


Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? So why has the healing of my dear people not come about?


You have not strengthened the weak, healed the ill, bandaged the injured, brought back the strays, or sought the lost.  Instead, you have ruled them with violence and cruelty.
