He appointed the Twelve:  , To Simon,  he gave the name Peter;


and he brought Simon to Jesus. When Jesus saw him, he said, ‘You are Simon, son of John.   You will be called Cephas’   (which is translated ‘Peter’  ).


They called out, asking if Simon, who was also named Peter, was lodging there.


Therefore send someone to Joppa and invite Simon here, who is also named Peter. He is lodging in Simon the tanner’s house by the sea.”


After there had been much debate, Peter stood up and said to them, ‘Brothers, you are aware that in the early days God made a choice among you,  that by my mouth the Gentiles would hear the gospel message and believe.


During the night Paul had a vision in which a Macedonian man was standing and pleading with him, ‘Cross over to Macedonia and help us! ’


In Joppa  there was a disciple named Tabitha (which is translated Dorcas). She was always doing good works  and acts of charity.


Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples heard that Peter was there and sent two men to him who urged him, ‘Don’t delay in coming with us.’


This became known throughout Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.


Peter stayed for some time in Joppa with Simon,  a leather tanner.
