When Uriah came to him, David asked how Joab and the troops were doing and how the war was going.
The one who conceals his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them will find mercy.
The Lord said: These people approach me with their speeches to honour me with lip-service, yet their hearts are far from me, and human rules direct their worship of me.
But he denied it in front of everyone: ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about.’
