After a long time, the word of the Lord   came to Elijah in the third year:  ‘Go and present yourself to Ahab.  I will send rain on the surface of the land.’


Ahab called for Obadiah, who was in charge of the palace.  Obadiah was a man who greatly feared the Lord


Therefore, this is what the Lord says: You will not get up from your sick-bed; you will certainly die.” ’ Then Elijah left.


So there was a severe famine  in Samaria, and they continued the siege against it until a donkey’s head sold for 880 grams  of silver, and a cup  of dove’s dung  sold for 55 grams  of silver.


The wicked flee when no one is pursuing them, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.


I #– #I am the one who comforts you. Who are you that you should fear humans who die, or a son of man who is given up like grass?


If I go out to the field, look #– #those slain by the sword! If I enter the city, look #– #those ill  from famine! For both prophet and priest travel to a land they do not know.


and your strength will be used up for nothing.  Your land will not yield its produce, and the trees of the land will not bear their fruit.


When I cut off your supply of bread, ten women will bake your bread in a single oven and ration out your bread by weight, so that you will eat but not be satisfied.
