As she went to get it, he called to her and said, ‘Please bring me a piece of bread in your hand.’


You are to drink from the wadi. I have commanded the ravens  to provide for you there.’


Then the word of the Lord came to him:


Then he looked, and there at his head was a loaf of bread baked over hot stones, and a jug of water.  So he ate and drank and lay down again.


The exiles of the Israelites who are in Halah and who are among the Canaanites as far as Zarephath as well as the exiles of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad will possess the cities of the Negev.


Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them except a widow at Zarephath in Sidon.


Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power  may be from God and not from us.


The Lord said to Gideon, ‘You have too many troops for me to hand the Midianites over to them, or else Israel might elevate themselves over me and say,  “I saved myself.”


Then the Lord said to Gideon, ‘There are still too many troops. Take them down to the water, and I will test them for you there. If I say to you, “This one can go with you,” he can go. But if I say about anyone, “This one cannot go with you,” he cannot go.’
