Micah 2

¹ Trouble will come to people\par that make plans to sin.\par Those people lie on their beds\par making their evil plans\par Then when the morning light comes,\par they do the bad things they planned.\par Why? Simply because they have the power\par to do what they want.\par

² They want fields,\par so they take them.\par They want houses,\par so they take them.\par They cheat a man\par and take his house.\par They cheat a man\par and take his land from him.\par

³ That is why the Lord says these things.\par “Look, I am planning trouble\par against this family.\par You will not be able to save yourselves. {\cf2\super [30]} \par You will stop being proud.\par Why? Because bad times are coming.\par

⁴ Then people will sing songs about you.\par People will sing this sad song:\par ‘We are ruined!\par The Lord took away our land.\par And gave it to other people.\par Yes, he took my land away from me.\par The Lord has divided our fields\par \{among our enemies\}.\par

⁵ So we will not be able\par to measure the land\par and divide it among the Lord’s people.’”\par

⁶ People say, “Don’t preach to us.\par Don’t say those bad things about us.\par Nothing bad will happen to us.”\par

⁷ But people of Jacob, {\cf2\super [31]} \par I must say these things.\par The Lord is losing his patience\par because of the bad things you did.\par If you people lived right,\par then I could say nice words to you.\par

⁸ But to my people,\par they are like an enemy.\par You steal the clothes right off the backs\par of people walking by.\par Those people think they are safe.\par But you \{take things from them\}\par like they are prisoners of war. {\cf2\super [32]} \par

⁹ You have taken nice houses\par away from the women of my people.\par You have taken my wealth\par away from their small children forever.\par

¹⁰ Get up and leave!\par This will not be your place of rest.\par Why? Because you ruined this place!\par You made it unclean,\par So it will be destroyed!\par It will be a terrible destruction!\par

¹¹ \{These people don’t want to listen to me.\}\par But if a man came telling lies\par then they would accept him.\par They would accept a false prophet\par if he comes and says,\par “There will be good times in the future,\par with plenty of wine and beer.”\par

¹² Yes, people of Jacob, {\cf2\super [33]} \par I will bring all of you together.\par I will bring together all the survivors {\cf2\super [34]} \par of Israel.\par I will put them together\par like sheep in the sheep pen,\par like a flock in its pasture.\par Then the place will be filled\par with the noise of many people.\par

¹³ Then the “Crasher” will push through\par and walk to the front of his people\par They will break through the gates.\par and leave \{that city\}.\par They will leave\par with their King marching before them.\par with the Lord at the front of his people.\par
