then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.


And God said to Noah, “I have determined to make an end of all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence because of them; now I am going to destroy them along with the earth.


Make a roof for the ark, and finish it to a cubit above, and put the door of the ark in its side; make it with lower, second, and third decks.


So the Lord said, “I will blot out from the earth the humans I have created—people together with animals and creeping things and birds of the air—for I am sorry that I have made them.”


They went into the ark with Noah, two and two of all flesh in which there was the breath of life.


The flood continued forty days on the earth, and the waters increased and bore up the ark, and it rose high above the earth.


For in seven days I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and every living thing that I have made I will blot out from the face of the ground.”

They were snatched away before their time; their foundation was washed away by a flood.

I, I am he who comforts you; why then are you afraid of a mere mortal who must die, a human being who fades like grass?

who builds his upper chambers in the heavens and founds his vault upon the earth, who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out upon the surface of the earth— the Lord is his name.


and they knew nothing until the flood came and swept them all away, so, too, will be the coming of the Son of Man.


They were eating and drinking and marrying and being given in marriage until the day Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed all of them.
