When others are humiliated, you say it is pride, for he saves the humble.


For though the Lord is high, he regards the lowly, but the haughty he perceives from far away.


The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom, and humility goes before honor.


A person’s pride will bring humiliation, but one who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.


For thus says the high and lofty one who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place and also with those who are contrite and humble in spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive the heart of the contrite.


Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all his works are truth, and his ways are justice; he is able to bring low those who walk in pride.


Whoever becomes humble like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

For all who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”


I tell you, this man went down to his home justified rather than the other, for all who exalt themselves will be humbled, but all who humble themselves will be exalted.”


But God gives all the more grace; therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”


In the same way, you who are younger must be subject to the elders. And all of you must clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”


Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you in due time.
