slanderers,haters of God,insolent,arrogant,boastful,inventorsof evil,disobedientto parents,
Then the kingof Israelreplied,"Tell[him], 'Let not him who girdson [his armor] boastlike him who takes[it] off.'"
Jehuthe sonof Hananithe seerwentout to meethim and saidto KingJehoshaphat,"Should you helpthe wickedand lovethose who hatethe LORDand so[bring] wrathon yourself from the LORD?
"You said,'Behold,you have defeatedEdom.'And your hearthas becomeproudin boasting.Nowstayat home;for whyshould you provoketroubleso that you, even you, would falland Judahwith you?"
For the wickedboastsof his heart'sdesire,And the greedymancurses[and] spurnsthe LORD.
Thus they becameuncleanin their practices,And playedthe harlotin their deeds.
Even those who trustin their wealthAnd boastin the abundanceof their riches?
The boastfulshall not standbeforeYour eyes;You hateallwho doiniquity.
Whydo you boastin evil,O mightyman?The lovingkindnessof God[endures] alldaylong.
"Those who hatethe LORDwould pretendobedienceto Him, And their time[of punishment] would be forever.
They pourforth[words], they speakarrogantly;Allwho dowickednessvauntthemselves.
Let allthose be ashamedwho servegravenimages,Who boastthemselves of idols;WorshipHim, allyou gods.
O LORDour God,You answeredthem; You were a forgivingGodto them, And [yet] an avengerof their [evil] deeds.
One who plansto doevil,Men will calla schemer.
The northwindbringsforthrain,And a backbitingtongue,an angrycountenance.
The eyethat mocksa fatherAnd scornsa mother,The ravensof the valleywill pickit out, And the youngeagleswill eatit.
"But he who sinsagainst me injureshimself;Allthose who hateme lovedeath."
"Behold,I have foundonlythis,that Godmademenupright,but they have soughtout manydevices."
in orderto layholdof the heartsof the houseof Israelwhoare estrangedfrom Me through alltheir idols."'
"They have treatedfatherand motherlightlywithin you. The alienthey have oppressedin your midst;the fatherlessand the widowthey have wrongedin you.
Then it cameabout when the arksetout that Mosessaid,"Riseup, O LORD!And let Your enemiesbe scattered,And let those who hateYou fleebeforeYou."
"For Godsaid,HONORYOUR FATHERAND MOTHER,'and, 'HE WHO SPEAKS EVILOF FATHERORMOTHERIS TO BE PUTTO DEATH.'
From that timeJesusbeganto showHis disciplesthat He mustgoto Jerusalem,and suffermany thingsfrom the eldersand chief priestsand scribes,and be killed,and be raisedup on the thirdday.
"But you will be betrayedevenby parentsand brothersand relativesand friends,and they will put [some] of you to death,
"The worldcannothateyou, but it hatesMe becauseI testifyof it, that its deedsare evil.
"For sometimeagoTheudasroseup, claimingto be somebody,and a groupof aboutfour hundredmenjoinedup with him. But he was killed,and allwhofollowedhim were dispersedand cameto nothing.
But ifyou bear the name"Jew"and relyupon the Lawand boastin God,
You whoboastin the Law,throughyour breakingthe Law,do you dishonorGod?
Wherethenis boasting?It is excluded.By what kindof law?Of works?No,but by a lawof faith.
not boastingbeyond[our] measure,[that] [is], in other men'slabors,but with the hopethat as your faithgrows,we will be, withinour sphere,enlargedevenmoreby you,
For I am afraidthat perhapswhen I comeI may findyou to be not whatI wishand may be foundby you to be not whatyou wish;that perhaps[there will be] strife,jealousy,angry tempers,disputes,slanders,gossip,arrogance,disturbances;
Cursedis he who dishonorshis fatheror mother.'And allthe peopleshall say,'Amen.'
but repaysthose who hateHim to their faces,to destroythem; He will not delaywith him who hatesHim, He will repayhim to his face.
who opposesand exaltshimself aboveeveryso-calledgodorobject of worship,sothat he takes his seatin the templeof God,displayinghimselfas beingGod.
For menwill be lovers of self,lovers of money,boastful,arrogant,revilers,disobedientto parents,ungrateful,unholy,
For we alsooncewere foolishourselves,disobedient,deceived,enslavedto variouslustsand pleasures,spending our lifein maliceand envy,hateful,hatingone another.
Soalsothe tongueis a smallpartof the body, and [yet] it boastsof great things.Seehowgreata forestis set aflameby such a smallfire!
But as it is, you boastin your arrogance;allsuchboastingis evil.
For speakingout arrogant[words] of vanitythey enticeby fleshlydesires,by sensuality,thosewho barelyescapefrom the ones who livein error,
Theseare grumblers,finding fault,followingaftertheir [own] lusts;they speakarrogantly,flatteringpeoplefor the sakeof [gaining an] advantage.
