That You may granthim relieffrom the daysof adversity,Untila pitis dugfor the wicked.
When He keepsquiet, whothen can condemn? And when He hidesHis face, whothen can beholdHim, That is, in regardto bothnationand man?--
Whyshould I fearin daysof adversity,When the iniquityof my foessurroundsme,
But You, O God,will bringthem downto the pitof destruction;Menof bloodshedand deceitwill not liveout halftheir days. But I will trustin You.
The nationshave sunkdownin the pitwhich they have made;In the netwhichthey hid, their own foothas been caught.
Should goodbe repaidwith evil? For they have duga pitfor me. Rememberhow I stoodbeforeYou To speakgoodon their behalf,So as to turnawayYour wrathfrom them.
May an outcrybe heardfrom their houses,WhenYou suddenlybringraidersupon them; For they have duga pitto captureme And hiddensnaresfor my feet.
I heardand my inwardpartstrembled,At the soundmy lipsquivered.Decayentersmy bones,And in my placeI tremble.BecauseI must waitquietlyfor the dayof distress,For the peopleto arise[who] will invadeus.
Sothere remainsa Sabbath restfor the peopleof God.
[then] the Lordknows howto rescuethe godlyfrom temptation, and to keepthe unrighteousunder punishmentfor the dayof judgment,
"And the nationswere enraged, and Your wrathcame, and the time[came] for the deadto be judged, and [the time] to rewardYour bond-servantsthe prophetsand the saintsand thosewho fearYour name, the smalland the great, and to destroythosewho destroythe earth."
And I hearda voicefrom heaven, saying,"Write,Blessedare the deadwho diein the Lordfrom nowon!'" "Yes,"saysthe Spirit,"sothat they may restfrom their labors, for their deedsfollowwith them."
