"O you who tearyourselfin your anger--For your sakeis the earthto be abandoned,Or the rockto be movedfrom its place?
"For angerslaysthe foolishman,And jealousykillsthe simple.
I saidin my alarm,"Allmenare liars."
As for me, I saidin my alarm,"I am cutofffrom beforeYour eyes";NeverthelessYou heardthe voiceof my supplicationsWhen I criedto You.
IfI had said,"I will speakthus,"Behold,I would have betrayedthe generationof Your children.
He whois slowto angerhas greatunderstanding,But he whois quick-temperedexaltsfolly.
He whois slowto angeris betterthanthe mighty,And he who ruleshis spirit,thanhe who capturesa city.
But it greatlydispleasedJonahand he becameangry.
Then Godsaidto Jonah,"Do you have goodreasonto be angryaboutthe plant?"And he said,"I have goodreasonto be angry,even to death."
BE ANGRY,AND [yet] DO NOT SIN;do not let the sungo downon your anger,
Let allbitternessand wrathand angerand clamorand slanderbe put awayfrom you, alongwith allmalice.
But nowyou also,putthem allaside:anger,wrath,malice,slander,[and] abusive speechfrom your mouth.
