As a shatteringof my bones,my adversariesrevileme, While they sayto me alldaylong, "Whereis your God?"
Whyare you in despair,O my soul?And whyhave you becomedisturbedwithinme? Hopein God,for I shall yetpraiseHim, The helpof my countenanceand my God.
My tearshave beenmy fooddayand night,While [they] sayto me alldaylong, "Whereis your God?"
ThesethingsI rememberand I pourout my soulwithinme. For I used to goalongwith the throng[and] leadthem in processionto the houseof God,With the voiceof joyand thanksgiving,a multitudekeepingfestival.
Whyshould the nationssay,"Whereis their God?"Let there be knownamong the nationsin our sight,Vengeancefor the bloodof Your servantswhich has been shed.
"Whyshould the Egyptiansspeak,saying,'With evil[intent] He broughtthem out to killthem in the mountainsand to destroythem from the faceof the earth?Turnfrom Your burningangerand changeYour mindabout[doing] harmto Your people.
Let the priests,the LORD'Sministers,Weepbetweenthe porchand the altar,And let them say,"SpareYour people,O LORD,And do not makeYour inheritancea reproach,A bywordamong the nations.Whyshould they among the peoplessay,Whereis their God?'"
