Thereforehis calamitywill comesuddenly;Instantlyhe will be brokenand therewill be nohealing.
but they [continually] mockedthe messengersof God,despisedHis wordsand scoffedat His prophets,untilthe wrathof the LORDaroseagainst His people,untiltherewas noremedy.
"Nowconsiderthis,you who forgetGod,OrI will tear[you] in pieces, and therewill be noneto deliver.
Let deathcomedeceitfullyupon them; Let them godownaliveto Sheol,For evilis in their dwelling,in their midst.
I will alsolaughat your calamity;I will mockwhen your dreadcomes,
When your dreadcomeslike a stormAnd your calamitycomeslike a whirlwind,When distressand anguishcomeupon you.
The wickedis thrustdownby his wrongdoing,But the righteoushasa refugewhen he dies.
For a righteousmanfallsseventimes,and risesagain, But the wickedstumblein [time of] calamity.
For their calamitywill risesuddenly,And whoknowsthe ruin[that comes] from bothof them?
A manwho hardens[his] neckafter much reproofWill suddenlybe brokenbeyondremedy.
Thereare sixthingswhich the LORDhates,Yes, sevenwhich are an abominationto Him:
and sayto them, 'Thussaysthe LORDof hosts,"Justsowill I breakthispeopleand thiscity,evenas one breaksa potter'svessel,whichcannotagainbe repaired;and they will buryin Tophethbecausethereis no[other] placefor burial.
Now it cameabout as I prophesied,that Pelatiahsonof Benaiahdied.Then I fellon my faceand criedout with a loudvoiceand said,"Alas,LordGOD!Will You bringthe remnantof Israelto a completeend?"
Whilethey are saying,"Peaceand safety!"thendestructionwill comeupon them suddenlylikelabor painsupon a woman with child,and they will not escape.
