"A littlesleep,a littleslumber,A littlefoldingof the handsto rest,"
He alsowho is slackin his workIs brotherto him who destroys.
Lazinesscastsinto a deepsleep,And an idlemanwill sufferhunger.
Do not lovesleep, oryou will becomepoor;Openyour eyes,[and] you will be satisfiedwith food.
When I saw,I reflectedupon it; I looked,[and] receivedinstruction.
Then your povertywill come[as] a robberAnd your wantlike an armedman.
[As] the doorturnson its hinges,So [does] the sluggardon his bed.
The foolfoldshis handsand consumeshis own flesh.
[Do] this, knowingthe time, that it is alreadythe hourfor you to awakenfrom sleep;for nowsalvationis nearerto us thanwhenwe believed.
For this reasonit says,"Awake, sleeper,And arisefrom the dead,And Christwill shineon you."
