He who winksthe eyecausestrouble,And a babblingfoolwill be ruined.
The wiseof heartwill receivecommands,But a babblingfoolwill be ruined.
A prudentmanconcealsknowledge,But the heartof foolsproclaimsfolly.
The one who guardshis mouthpreserveshis life;The one who openswidehis lipscomes to ruin.
He whohasa crookedmindfindsnogood,And he who is pervertedin his languagefallsinto evil.
He who separateshimself seeks[his own] desire,He quarrelsagainst allsoundwisdom.
The mindof the prudentacquiresknowledge,And the earof the wiseseeksknowledge.
A fool'smouthis his ruin,And his lipsare the snareof his soul.
He who getswisdomloveshis own soul;He who keepsunderstandingwill findgood.
He who guardshis mouthand his tongue,Guardshis soulfrom troubles.
Give[instruction] to a wisemanand he will be stillwiser,Teacha righteousmanand he will increase[his] learning.
