and her husbandhearsof it and saysnothingto her on the dayhe hears[it], then her vowsshall standand her obligationsby whichshe has boundherselfshall stand.
To the womanHe said,"I will greatlymultiplyYour painin childbirth,In painyou will bringforthchildren;Yet your desirewill be for your husband,And he will ruleover you."
"And," [said the women], "whenwe were burningsacrificesto the queenof heavenand were pouringout drinkofferingsto her, was it withoutour husbandsthat we madefor her [sacrificial] cakesin her imageand pouredout drinkofferingsto her?"
"However, ifshe should marrywhile underher vowsorthe rashstatementof her lipsby whichshe has boundherself,
"But ifon the dayher husbandhears[of it], he forbidsher, then he shall annulher vowwhichshe is underand the rashstatementof her lipsby whichshe has boundherself;and the LORDwill forgiveher.
For the marriedwomanis boundby lawto her husbandwhile he is living;but ifher husbanddies,she is releasedfrom the lawconcerning the husband.
She madea vowand said,"O LORDof hosts,ifYou will indeedlookon the afflictionof Your maidservantand rememberme, and not forgetYour maidservant,but will giveYour maidservanta son,then I will givehim to the LORDallthe daysof his life,and a razorshall nevercomeon his head."
Elkanahher husbandsaidto her, "Dowhatseems bestto you. Remainuntilyou have weanedhim; onlymay the LORDconfirmHis word."So the womanremainedand nursedher sonuntilshe weanedhim.
