Those[were] the watersof Meribah,becausethe sonsof Israelcontendedwith the LORD,and He provedHimself holyamong them.
"You calledin troubleand I rescuedyou; I answeredyou in the hidingplaceof thunder;I provedyou at the watersof Meribah.Selah.
"Hear,O My people,and I will admonishyou; O Israel,ifyou would listento Me!
Do not hardenyour hearts,as at Meribah,As in the dayof Massahin the wilderness,
He namedthe placeMassahand Meribahbecauseof the quarrelof the sonsof Israel,and becausethey testedthe LORD,saying,"Is the LORDamongus, ornot?"
But the LORDof hostswill be exaltedin judgment,And the holyGodwill showHimself holyin righteousness.
"As a soothingaromaI will acceptyou when I bringyou out from the peoplesand gatheryou from the landswhereyou are scattered;and I will proveMyself holyamong you in the sightof the nations.
"I will vindicatethe holinessof My greatnamewhich has been profanedamong the nations,whichyou have profanedin their midst.Then the nationswill knowthat I am the LORD,"declaresthe LordGOD,"when I proveMyself holyamong you in their sight.
and you will comeup againstMy peopleIsraellike a cloudto coverthe land.It shall comeabout in the lastdaysthat I will bringyou againstMy land,sothat the nationsmay knowMe when I am sanctifiedthrough you before their eyes,O Gog."
becauseyou brokefaithwith Me in the midstof the sonsof Israelat the watersof Meribah-kadesh,in the wildernessof Zin,becauseyou did not treatMe as holyin the midstof the sonsof Israel.
Of Levihe said,"[Let] Your Thummimand Your Urim[belong] to Your godlyman,WhomYou provedat Massah,With whom You contendedat the watersof Meribah;
