So neitherI, my brothers,my servants,northe menof the guardwhofollowedme, noneof us removedour clothes,each[took] his weapon[even to] the water.
At that timeI alsosaidto the people,"Let eachmanwith his servantspendthe nightwithinJerusalemso that they may be a guardfor us by nightand a laborerby day."
Now there was a greatoutcryof the peopleand of their wivesagainsttheir Jewishbrothers.
I alsoappliedmyself to the workon thiswall;we did not buyany land,and allmy servantswere gatheredtherefor the work.
then I putHananimy brother,and Hananiahthe commanderof the fortress,in chargeof Jerusalem,for he was a faithfulmanand fearedGodmorethanmany.
They do not crowdeachother,They marcheveryonein his path;When they burstthroughthe defenses,They do not breakranks.
But by the graceof GodI amwhatI am,and His gracetowardme did not provevain;but I laboredeven morethan allof them, yetnot I, but the graceof Godwith me.
"At the soundof those who divide[flocks] amongthe wateringplaces,Therethey shall recountthe righteousdeedsof the LORD,The righteousdeedsfor His peasantryin Israel.Thenthe peopleof the LORDwentdownto the gates.
So Abimelechwentup to MountZalmon,he and allthe peoplewho[were] with him; and Abimelechtookan axein his handand cutdowna branchfrom the trees,and liftedit and laid[it] on his shoulder.Then he saidto the peoplewho[were] with him, "Whatyou have seenme do,hurry[and] dolikewise."
