Now the leadersof the peoplelivedin Jerusalem,but the restof the peoplecastlotsto bringoneout of tento livein Jerusalem,the holycity,while nine-tenths[remained] in the [other] cities.
They castlots,the smalland the greatalike, according to their fathers'households,for everygate.
Thesewere headsof the fathers'[households] according to their generations,chiefmenwholivedin Jerusalem.
So allIsraelwas enrolledby genealogies;and behold,they are writtenin the Bookof the Kingsof Israel.And Judahwas carriedawayinto exileto Babylonfor their unfaithfulness.
Now the firstwholivedin their possessionsin their cities[were] Israel,the priests,the Levitesand the templeservants.
Someof the sonsof Judah,of the sonsof Benjaminand of the sonsof Ephraimand Manassehlivedin Jerusalem:
Likewise we castlotsfor the supplyof wood[among] the priests,the Levitesand the peopleso that they might bringit to the houseof our God,according to our fathers'households,at fixedtimesannually,to burnon the altarof the LORDour God,as it is writtenin the law;

At that timeI alsosaidto the people,"Let eachmanwith his servantspendthe nightwithinJerusalemso that they may be a guardfor us by nightand a laborerby day."
For therethroneswere setfor judgment,The thronesof the houseof David.
Prayfor the peaceof Jerusalem:"May they prosperwho loveyou.
The lotis castinto the lap,But its everydecisionis from the LORD.
"For they callthemselves afterthe holycityAnd leanon the Godof Israel;The LORDof hostsis His name.
Awake,awake,Clotheyourselfin your strength,O Zion;Clotheyourselfin your beautifulgarments,O Jerusalem,the holycity;For the uncircumcisedand the uncleanWill nolongercomeinto you.
and comingout of the tombsafterHis resurrectionthey enteredthe holycityand appearedto many.
Thenthe deviltookHim into the holycityand had Him standon the pinnacleof the temple,
And they prayedand said,"You, Lord,who know the heartsof all men,showwhichoneof thesetwoYou have chosen
And they drewlotsfor them, and the lotfellto Matthias;and he was addedto the elevenapostles.
And Joshuacastlotsfor them in Shilohbeforethe LORD,and thereJoshuadividedthe landto the sonsof Israelaccording to their divisions.
