"ThereforeI sayto you, anysinand blasphemyshall be forgivenpeople,but blasphemyagainst the Spiritshall not be forgiven.
"Comenow,and let us reasontogether," Saysthe LORD,"Thoughyour sinsare as scarlet,They will be as whiteas snow;Thoughthey are redlike crimson,They will be like wool.
Let the wickedforsakehis wayAnd the unrighteousmanhis thoughts;And let him returnto the LORD,And He will havecompassionon him, And to our God,For He will abundantlypardon.
"Sayto them, 'As I live!'declaresthe LordGOD,'I takenopleasurein the deathof the wicked,but ratherthat the wickedturnfrom his wayand live.Turnback,turnbackfrom your evilways!Whythen will you die,O houseof Israel?'
Moreover, the one who blasphemesthe nameof the LORDshall surelybe putto death;allthe congregationshall certainlystonehim. The alienas well as the native,when he blasphemesthe Name,shall be putto death.
"And everyonewhospeaksa wordagainstthe Sonof Man,it will be forgivenhim; but he who blasphemesagainstthe HolySpirit,it will not be forgivenhim.
"You men who are stiff-neckedand uncircumcisedin heartand earsare alwaysresistingthe HolySpirit;you are doing justas your fathersdid.
For if we go on sinningwillfullyafterreceivingthe knowledgeof the truth,there no longerremainsa sacrificefor sins,
How muchsevererpunishmentdo you thinkhe will deservewho has trampled under footthe Sonof God,and has regardedas uncleanthe bloodof the covenantby whichhe was sanctified,and has insultedthe Spiritof grace?
For in the case of thosewho have oncebeen enlightenedand have tastedof the heavenlygiftand have been madepartakersof the HolySpirit,
Ifwe confessour sins,He is faithfuland righteousto forgiveus our sinsand to cleanseus from allunrighteousness.
Ifanyoneseeshis brothercommittinga sinnot [leading] to death,he shall askand [God] will for him givelifeto thosewho commit sinnot [leading] to death.There is a sin[leading] to death;I do not saythat he should make requestfor this.
