And alsosomeof the Epicureanand Stoicphilosopherswere conversingwith him. Somewere saying,"Whatwould thisidle babblerwishto say?"Others,"He seemsto be a proclaimerof strangedeities,"--becausehe was preachingJesusand the resurrection.
These thingsHis disciplesdid not understandat the first;but whenJesuswas glorified,thenthey rememberedthat these thingswere writtenof Him, and that they had donethese thingsto Him.
But they did not understand[this] statement,and they were afraidto askHim.
Petertook Him asideand beganto rebukeHim, saying,"God forbid[it], Lord!Thisshall neverhappento You."
His brotherswere jealousof him, but his fatherkeptthe saying[in mind].
As they were coming downfrom the mountain,He gave them ordersnot to relateto anyonewhatthey had seen,untilthe Sonof Manrosefrom the dead.
They askedHim, saying,"[Why is it] that the scribessaythat Elijahmustcomefirst?"
