But when Herodheard[of it], he kept saying,"John,whomI beheaded,has risen!"
Therethey were in greatfear[where] nofearhad been;For Godscatteredthe bonesof him who encampedagainst you; You put[them] to shame,becauseGodhad rejectedthem.
and saidto his servants,"Thisis Johnthe Baptist;he has risenfrom the dead,and that is whymiraculous powersare at workin him."
saying,"I have sinnedby betrayinginnocentblood."But they said,"Whatis that to us? See[to that] yourself!"
But otherswere saying,"He is Elijah."And otherswere saying,"[He is] a prophet,likeoneof the prophets[of old]."
For Herodhimselfhad sentand had Johnarrestedand boundin prisonon accountof Herodias,the wifeof his brotherPhilip,becausehe had marriedher.
Herodsaid,"I myselfhad Johnbeheaded;but whois this manaboutwhomI hearsuch things?"And he kept tryingto seeHim.
