On the next day,when they had leftBethany,He became hungry.
And after He had fastedfortydaysand fortynights,He thenbecame hungry.
Seeingat a distancea fig treein leaf,He went[to see] ifperhapsHe would findanythingon it; and when He cameto it, He foundnothingbut leaves,for it was not the seasonfor figs.
As they were passingby in the morning,they sawthe fig treewitheredfrom the roots[up].
for fortydays,being temptedby the devil.And He atenothingduringthosedays,and when they had ended,He became hungry.
Afterthis,Jesus,knowingthat all thingshad alreadybeen accomplished,to fulfillthe Scripture,said,"I am thirsty."
Therefore,He hadto be made likeHis brethrenin all things,sothat He might becomea mercifuland faithfulhigh priestin things pertainingto God,to make propitiationfor the sinsof the people.
