But Jesussaidto them, "Becauseof your hardness of hearthe wroteyou thiscommandment.
"But they becamedisobedientand rebelledagainst You, And castYour lawbehindtheir backsAnd killedYour prophetswhohad admonishedthem So that they might returnto You, And they committedgreatblasphemies.
He saidto them, "Becauseof your hardness of heartMosespermittedyou to divorceyour wives;but from the beginningit has not beenthis way.
"You men who are stiff-neckedand uncircumcisedin heartand earsare alwaysresistingthe HolySpirit;you are doing justas your fathersdid.
"Whena mantakesa wifeand marriesher, and it happensthat she findsnofavorin his eyesbecausehe has foundsomeindecencyin her, and he writesher a certificateof divorceand puts[it] in her handand sendsher out from his house,
"For I knowyour rebellionand your stubbornness;behold,while I am stillalivewith you today,you have beenrebelliousagainstthe LORD;howmuchmore,then, aftermy death?
"Know,then, [it is] not because of your righteousness[that] the LORDyour Godis givingyou thisgoodlandto possess,for you are a stubbornpeople.
