"Did Hezekiahkingof Judahand allJudahputhim to death?Did he not fearthe LORDand entreatthe favorof the LORD,and the LORDchangedHis mindaboutthe misfortunewhichHe had pronouncedagainstthem? But we are committinga greatevilagainstourselves."
"But ifthey are prophets,and ifthe wordof the LORDis with them, let them nowentreatthe LORDof hoststhat the vesselswhich are leftin the houseof the LORD,in the houseof the kingof Judahand in Jerusalemmay not goto Babylon.
"Arise,cryaloudin the nightAt the beginningof the night watches;Pourout your heartlike waterBeforethe presenceof the Lord;Liftup your handsto Him For the lifeof your littleonesWho are faintbecause of hungerAt the headof everystreet."
"Yet evennow,"declaresthe LORD,"Returnto Me with allyour heart,And with fasting,weepingand mourning;
Let the priests,the LORD'Sministers,Weepbetweenthe porchand the altar,And let them say,"SpareYour people,O LORD,And do not makeYour inheritancea reproach,A bywordamong the nations.Whyshould they among the peoplessay,Whereis their God?'"
