NowJesus[started] on His waywith them; and when He was not farfrom the house,the centurionsentfriends,sayingto Him, "Lord,do not troubleYourself further, for I amnot worthyfor You to comeundermy roof;
I am unworthyof allthe lovingkindnessand of allthe faithfulnesswhichYou have shownto Your servant;for with my staff[only] I crossedthisJordan,and nowI have becometwocompanies.
A man'spridewill bringhim low,But a humblespiritwill obtainhonor.
justas the Sonof Mandid not cometo be served,but to serve,and to giveHis lifea ransomfor many."
"As for me, I baptizeyou with waterfor repentance,but He who is comingafterme is mightierthan I, and I amnot fitto removeHis sandals;He will baptizeyou with the HolySpiritand fire.
And He went offwith him; and a largecrowdwas followingHim and pressingin on Him.
But when SimonPetersaw[that], he fell downat Jesus'feet,saying,"Go awayfrom me Lord,for I ama sinfulman,O Lord!"
When they cameto Jesus,they earnestlyimploredHim, saying,"He is worthyfor You to grantthisto him;
for he lovesour nationand it was he who builtus our synagogue."
for this reasonI did not evenconsidermyselfworthyto cometo You, but [just] saythe word,and my servantwill be healed.
While He was stillspeaking,someonecamefrom [the house of] the synagogue official,saying,"Your daughterhas died;do not troublethe Teacheranymore."
"[You know of] Jesusof Nazareth,howGodanointedHim with the HolySpiritand with power,and [how] He went aboutdoing goodand healingallwho were oppressedby the devil,for Godwas with Him.
Humbleyourselves in the presenceof the Lord,and He will exaltyou.
But He givesa greatergrace.Therefore[it] says,"GODIS OPPOSEDTO THE PROUD,BUT GIVESGRACETO THE HUMBLE."
