WhenHe approached[Jerusalem], He sawthe cityand weptoverit,
He fixedhis gazesteadily[on him] untilhe was ashamed, and the manof Godwept.
My eyesshedstreamsof water,Becausethey do not keepYour law.Tsadhe.
I beholdthe treacherousand loathe[them], Becausethey do not keepYour word.
Burningindignationhas seizedme becauseof the wicked,Who forsakeYour law.
ThereforeI say,"Turnyour eyesawayfrom me, Let me weepbitterly,Do not tryto comfortme concerningthe destructionof the daughterof my people."
For the LORDwill riseup as [at] MountPerazim,He will be stirredup as in the valleyof Gibeon,To doHis task,His unusualtask,And to workHis work,His extraordinarywork.
But ifyou will not listento it, My soulwill sobin secretfor [such] pride; And my eyeswill bitterlyweepAnd flowdownwith tears,Becausethe flockof the LORDhas been takencaptive.
But as for me, I have not hurriedaway from [being] a shepherdafterYou, Norhave I longedfor the woefulday; You Yourselfknowthat the utteranceof my lipsWas in Your presence.
Ohthat my headwere watersAnd my eyesa fountainof tears,That I might weepdayand nightFor the slainof the daughterof my people!
Howcan I giveyou up, O Ephraim? How can I surrenderyou, O Israel?Howcan I makeyou like Admah? How can I treatyou like Zeboiim? My heartis turnedoverwithinMe, AllMy compassionsare kindled.
